12H Imola - 30 June / 1 July 2017 - Highlights (95 pics) After the 12h of Misano in March, the 24H Series comes to Italy again at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola. The race was impeccably organized by Creventic in two parts, the first 4 hours on Friday, June 30, and the last part of the race on Saturday with 8 hours to close the long motorsport marathon. A very nice weather with acceptable temperatures for the month of July was a good surprise! I must confess that endurance races are photograpically my favorite events where you feel part of it. The beauty of taking pictures throughout the day is a very satisfying feeling as well as having to fully enjoy the drivers' performance and seeing the mechanical stress of the cars. A lifetime race is for everyone, not only for crews and staff. When it ends you feels excited and happy to have given your small contribution to the "great show", each one in a specific role. After 367 laps and 4,909 km, the Audi R8 LMS of the German Car Collection Motorsport team with drivers Dimitri Parhofer / Max Edelhoff / Horst Felbermayr Jr. / Toni Forné won the race in the Queen A6-Am category. A duty thanks to Creventic for support, to all Imola racetrack staff, marshal & CEA persons A greeting also to Valentino Orsini photographer who I always meet with pleasure and to all great people who read and write in the magnificent place called Amici dell'Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola See you next race! Ciao! Update 12/04/2017 - "Senna - The last Night" - F1 exhibition - Museo Lamborghini 2017 Opened today at the Lamborghini Museum in Sant'Agata Bolognese the F1 exhibition entitled "Senna - the last night" that pays tribute to the Brazilian champion. Gather for the occasion all the Ayrton single-seater of his career, from Parilla Kart to the last 1994 Williams FW16 in Rhotmans livery. Curators of the exhibition, inaugurated by A.D. Stefano Domenicali were Ercole Colombo and Giorgio Terruzzi who retraced the life of Senna through photographs and texts on special panels. Only few people actually know that the "bull brand" crossed the Ayrton life in September 1993 when Ron Dennis, McLaren manager, was looking a different engine to replace the Ford unit for the 1994 season. At the Estoril racetrack were conducted three testing days with the McLaren MP4/8 modified to install the V12 Lamborghini designed by Mauro Forghieri and Daniele Audetto. Ayrton Senna was immediately impressed by the powerful engine so requires it be mounted on McLaren in the last 1993 GP because he hoped to have the engine for the 1994 season and wanted to accelerate the developments. As we know the history took a different way, Ron Dennis signed an agreement with Peugeot for the supply of engines in 1994 F1 season and the Brazilian champion went to race for the Williams team. Only Forghieri and Audetto, present at the inauguration could describe accurately and truthfully the whole story. Many people attended this opening day as the pilots Mauro Valli, Riccardo Patrese and Pierluigi Martini who remembered with great affection and respect Ayron and his career The exhibition will be on display until October 9, from 9.30 to 19, Sunday included.
